In all, coverage of 24 missing matches was added to the USPA’s YouTube channel. Hence, this article was overtaken by events. In an absolutely staggering move, the United States Polo Association has elected not to livestream the first 12 matches of the CV Whitney Cup nor the first 12 matches of the U.S. Gold Cup this year. Both tournaments are staples of the U.S. high goal season, and, along with the U.S. Open, are part of the U.S. version of the “Triple Crown”.
At one point in history the USPA was even offering $1 million as prize money for any team that won all three of these tournaments in the same season. How far the bar has fallen now since those heady days.
This is all especially stunning given how (with the advent of inexpensive technology) even children’s elementary school sports is sometimes livestreamed these days to grandparents in far off cities.
